Design strategy for complex systems, research, and public engagement.

Evan Sands is a Zurich-based design strategist and communication leader working across research, technology, public engagement, and complex systems.

His current work focuses on how design can make complex ideas more visible, understandable, and actionable. He recently completed an MA in Eco-Social Design at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), where his research explored how transdisciplinary design can support doctoral researchers in communicating and situating research within and beyond academic contexts.

Evan is also Co-Founder and Chair of the Board of Visual Fields, a Zurich-based nonprofit association and professional network for designers and creative professionals. Through this work, he supports exchange, visibility, and community-building across the Swiss creative landscape.

With more than a decade of experience in visual communication, brand strategy, digital platforms, and experiential media, Evan has led projects across corporate communication, interactive technology, public-facing design, event formats, and digital engagement in the United States and Switzerland.

His practice bridges research communication, planetary futures, commercial innovation, and social impact through tools, platforms, visual systems, and experiences that help people navigate complexity.
